How to Write a CV for an Athletic Scholarship

The cost of college in most countries is increasing since Alumni have decreased the amount of money they are donating to college and universities, and also due to the poor economic conditions that have forced the governments to decrease the amount of money given to schools. There are many other reasons the cost of attendance has risen, and there are many ways to offset these costly fee hikes such as acquiring scholarships. But, some scholarships are more difficult to obtain than others, and one in particular – depending on the school – can be extremely difficult to obtain which is an athletic scholarship. Some schools require that to apply for the scholarship the student-athlete must send a resume highlighting their sporting achievements that would show that they are deserving of attending school at a reduced or free cost, thanks to the scholarship. So, how should you write a CV or resume for an athletic scholarship?

First and foremost, make sure that it is clearly written with your name and information along with the sport you are playing. List your Grade Point Average and other relevant test scores. This is just a basic and simple rundown of who you are, what sport you played, and whether you did well academically.

Second, highlight any awards and achievements you received while playing your sport. This one is simple, as well, write it like this: “As a cross country runner, I won several local awards – athlete of the week in Stanislaus County, placed 5th overall at the Stanford Invite out of 4,000+ runners, PR of 15.31 for the 5K – and I completed work in the community that promoted running and healthy exercise habits.” This shows that not only are you an athlete that is cocky and good at running, but also that you care about the greater community, which is something that coaches love about athletes.

If you are athletic and your CV indicates some experience in the world of conditioning and physiotherapy then you may have a good opportunity for a career designing and selling commercial gym equipment. These machines need to be designed with an understanding of how they will interact with the human body.
